KELCYRA CASTLE

The Castle of Këlcyra entitled Cultural Monument of first category in 1963 is situated near the city of Këlcyrë, Municipality of Këlcyrë. It is a medieval fortification, built on the extreme South of Trebeshina Mountain, at an altitude above 300 meters. It dates back to the 3rd century BC and on its walls were used numerous ancient blocks. The walls of the ancient fortification surround the rock from North to East where slopes fall steep, while on the West side, protection is entrusted to nature.
